Sample Files
These sample files are all actual transfers done with our system. We have identified the film stock used and any other pertinent information and in each case we have limited the transfer to a "best light", since this is the most common type. We have kept each clip to between one and two minutes. Each sample was mastered onto Betacam or as a DV25 digital file direct to our server.

In order for us to maintain some semblance of the original transfer, we have used the Mpeg1 format for the file conversion. As such, depending on your internet browser, you will need to wait for each file to download completely before it will begin to play correctly, without stuttering. If you have a high speed connection, this will not take that long. If you have a 56K or less you may need to wait at least 5 to 8 minutes!

Film Stock: Eastman EXR 50D Color Negative 7245 16mm (rated and exposed for ASA50)
Camera: Eclair NPR
Lens : Angenieux 9.5-57mm

This is Kodaks slowest speed color negative stock designed for daylight use. This was a very bright summer day in Hartford, Connecticut. High contrast with areas of mixed shade but you are still able to read the faces clearly. This stock exhibits rich, saturated colors and deep blacks. A great stock for capturing real-life scenes outdoors. Needle sharp detail.

Film Stock: Eastman Ektachrome 7239 Color Reversal
16mm (rated ASA 160, exposed for ASA 40 w/ND.6)
Camera: Eclair NPR
Lens: Angenieux 9.5-57mm and 12-120mm

Kodaks first of two 16mm color reversal stocks balanced for daylight (7251 being the other). This is a great '70's-looking stock if that's what you're after but it does not stand up as well as todays negative stocks. Has a rather flat look to it and a bit more grain than one might like. Does hold the detail well in the shadow areas and is very fast for a daylight stock (although 7251 would be much faster). A great sports photography film for those overcast days on the football field.

Film Stock: Eastman Vision 800T Color Negative
7289 16mm (rated and exposed for ASA 800)

Camera: Eclair ACL2
Lens : Unspecified

These are some scenes from the 16mm short entitled Caffeine: The Movie. Produced by Jason Ables and directed by Howard Jackson, the film is currently in post-production. The filmmakers probably chose Kodak's 800 speed stock for its ability to capture pretty much what your eye can see. While there is some grain, it is in no way objectionable. This is a marvelously well photographed piece of work and this clip is well worth checking out. The filmmakers will have a web site shortly and we will provide a link to it at that time. Good luck Jason and Howard!
